A few days in Sidney, BC

Sometimes I want to go somewhere without turning every day into a race to see one more thing.

For this trip, we crossed from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay on BC Ferries and stayed at the Sidney Pier Hotel & Spa. Sidney gave us a waterfront base close to the ferry, with Victoria within reach when we wanted a busier day.

We found a few meals worth remembering. Frankie’s became a breakfast stop, and Riva was our Italian choice. We also spent time around Victoria’s Inner Harbour. The Empress is famous, of course, but I came away feeling its experience was overrated for us. I’d rather tell you that plainly than pretend every landmark is a must-do.

The pleasure of this visit was its pace. We could take in the waterfront, eat well, and leave space in the day. It reminded me that a trip doesn’t have to be packed to feel worthwhile.
